Region

Carnuntum is a wine region located in eastern Austria, near the city of Vienna. It is known for its long history of winemaking, even dating back to the time of the ancient Romans. The region takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Carnuntum, which was an important military and trading center during the Roman Empire.

This is a village wine coming from various locations in Göttlesbrunn. Mainly coming from slightly sandy loess soil, gravel climate. These locations are under a strong Pannonian climate influence. Due to the proximity of the Danube on the one hand and Lake Neusiedl on the other hand, grapes with a high physiological ripeness and at the same time fresh and robust fruit that thrive here.

Vinification

Hand harvested with selective picking in large boxes. Whole clusters & single berries gently fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tank, 30 °C for optimal extraction of the colour, aroma and tannins in the skins while still maintaining freshness and fruit aromas & flavors. Maceration for 3 weeks after the end of fermentation. Malolactic fermentation immediately following fermentation in used barriques and aging in used oak barrels for 18 months.

Ideal with dark meat such as beef, lamb or game which is also strongly seasoned. Decant the wine for a couple of hours for maximum enjoyment.

Ideal drinking temperature 18°C.
