Podere Forte
Founded in 1997 by entrepreneur Pasquale Forte, Podere Forte is a boutique wine estate nestled in the Orcia Valley, Tuscany, known for producing some of the region’s most esteemed biodynamic wines. Spanning 47 acres of meticulously managed vineyards, the estate is committed to organic and biodynamic practices, ensuring that each bottle reflects the unique terroir and sustainable philosophy of the winery.
With its vineyards thriving in schist and limestone soils, Podere Forte crafts elegant, expressive wines—most notably its flagship Petrucci (100% Sangiovese) and Guardiavigna (100% Cabernet Franc)—that capture the essence of the Orcia region’s rich viticultural heritage. By harmonizing nature and innovation, Podere Forte has become a symbol of quality and dedication in the world of Italian fine wines.
Guardiavigna
The vineyard is planted with a density of 6.250 – 7.800 vines per hectare, bush-trained vines according to organic and biodynamic practices. Grapes are harvested in 15 kg crates; a careful manual bunches selection and an optical selection of the grapes follow.
Spontaneous fermentation in French oak vats, up to 35 days; ageing in French oak casks and barrique for 18-20 months; 18-24 months of bottle maturation follows.
Deep ruby red colour. The nose is captivating and multifaceted, offering an aromatic bouquet of dark fruits such as blackberries and black cherries. These fruit aromas are intertwined with notes of plum, dried herbs, and subtle hints of spice.
On the palate, Guardiavigna is full-bodied and robust, characterized by rich flavors of dark fruits and a hint of cocoa. The wine’s lively acidity provides freshness and balance, while the well-integrated tannins offer a firm structure. As it evolves, it reveals layers of complexity, including hints of leather, tobacco, and a touch of minerality. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lasting impression of ripe fruit and spice, making it a remarkable choice for aging or enjoying now with hearty dishes.
The Charismatic Guardiavigna is an emblem of power, with a fine and elegant heart is an enveloping red, of great depth. From the tannic and silky texture, aromas and scents stand out that recall the territory from which it originates. Certified Organic.
