Description

Wine

“Ripe fruits like melons and a hint of pear on the nose with nuts and honey. This is well-structured and with a full-bodied palate, an abundance of juice, elegant freshness & creamy with endless pleasure.”

Vineyard

Grapes are coming from the single vineyard Altenberg in Göttlesbrunn with gravel & loess lower layers soil. It’s one of the cooler hills in the region with influences coming from the close forest and east-facing exposure. The Pinot blanc loves this Pannonian climate with its warm late summers and falls. It is because of this combination that the grapes get exceptionally ripe and makes the achievement of such an extraordinary extract on the palate possible.

Region

Carnuntum is a wine region located in eastern Austria, near the city of Vienna. It is known for its long history of winemaking, even dating back to the time of the ancient Romans. The region takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Carnuntum, which was an important military and trading center during the Roman Empire.

Vinification

Manual harvest with only selected very ripe grapes. Single berry selection with a maceration time of 6 hours prior to fermentation. Fermentation takes place in used 500 liter oak barrels and amphorae at approx. 20-22 °C at the beginning. The final fermentation at 14 °C for about 10 weeks. Rest time stored in 500 liter oak barrels and amphorae for 6 months on the entire lees, with regular battonage. First sulphur addition only added after the first racking.
