Description

Wine

“Velvety, multi-layered, well defined, and elegant on the palate, exotic juicy, a splash of roasted and spicy aromas, well balanced, freshness on the palate, high potential.”

Region

Grapes are coming from the single vineyard Rothenberg in Höflein, Carnuntum with red gravel soil from the Danube river. Carnuntum is a wine region located in eastern Austria, near the city of Vienna. It is known for its long history of winemaking, even dating back to the time of the ancient Romans. The region takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Carnuntum, which was an important military and trading center during the Roman Empire.

Carnuntum is situated on the southern banks of the Danube River, where the climate is influenced by the river and the nearby Pannonian Plain. The region has a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters, and the vineyards are protected by the nearby Leitha Mountains, which help create a favorable microclimate for grape cultivation.

Vineyard

Ried Rothenberg is one of the coolest sites in the region, directly next to the big “Ellend” forest and therefore mainly influenced by the cooler winds of the river. Moreover here, you can find the original red gravel from the Danube river. Grüner Veltliner is not a prominent grape variety grown in the Carnuntum wine region. It is known for its signature spicy and peppery flavors, as well as its high acidity and versatility. It is the most widely planted grape variety in Austria and is highly regarded for producing exceptional white wines.

Vinification

Manual harvest with only selected very ripe grapes, on October 5th, 2021. After harvest a selection process of whole cluster & single berry is carried out in the winery.
