Description

Wine

Volpolo, is the winery’s second label, it’s a Bolgheri DOC, & remaining as such to maintain the designation’s high value. This blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot is a very lively Tuscan red with great intensity, precision and longevity.

A very fresh and enticing nose of bright blueberries, newly picked blackcurrants, crushed stones, pressed violets, dried sage, ash and cedar. Full-bodied and ever so tight with firm, polished tannins punctuated by vibrant acidity. Long and taut on the finish.

Region

Tuscany is one of Italy’s most famous and prestigious wine regions, renowned for producing high-quality wines that have garnered international acclaim. The region is located in central Italy and is known for its diverse terroir, grape varieties, and historic winemaking traditions.

The region extends from the Apennine Mountains in the east to the Tyrrhenian Sea in the west, which influences its climate and grape-growing conditions. Tuscany enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This climate is well-suited for grape cultivation and ripening. Coastal areas benefit from sea breezes that help moderate temperatures.

Bolgheri

The Bolgheri DOC is a prestigious wine appellation located in the coastal region of Maremma in Tuscany, Italy. It is renowned for producing some of Italy’s most esteemed and sought-after red wines, particularly those made from Bordeaux grape varieties.

The region first gained international recognition in the 1970s when some winemakers started producing high-quality Bordeaux-style wines. Prior to this, Bolgheri was not well-known for winemaking, but these pioneering efforts changed the perception of the region.
