Artist

Since its creation in 2015, Domaine des Peyre has always associated ART with wine, dotting the vineyards with works of art by contemporary artists. Its owners, Georges Antoun & Patricia Alexandre have for several years had strong ties with artist Toma-l, they invited him to create a live ephemeral work at the domain in 2019. It did not take more than that for them to give him full permission to create the label of the Arte cuvée.

Thomas Labarthe, who has lived for a long time between Nantes & Marseille, now exhibits in Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Lille, New York, Montreal, Brussels & Salzburg. The artist paints without any idea before starting his work. He calls it “free & instinctive expression”. He imagine 6 different labels for this exceptional cuvée, making the bottles of the ARTE wine works of art in their own right.

Wine

First vintage of the Arte Blanc. A blend of  50% Grenache Blanc & 50% Vermentino aged in oak barrels for 9 months. A very fine nose, full of delicacy & elegance. The very light oak gives tasty notes of brioche while keeping lots of freshness on the finish. Pairs well with cooked white fish, shellfish & raw goat’s cheese.

The region experiences a Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers, mild winters, and a significant influence from the Mediterranean Sea. The maritime climate helps moderate the temperatures in the vineyards and provides beneficial sea breezes.

IGP Méditerranée benefits from diverse terroirs, including various soil types, altitudes, and exposures. The soils range from limestone, clay, and gravel to sandy and stony terrains. These variations in terroir contribute to the different styles of wines produced in the region.

The IGP Méditerranée appellation allows winemakers to experiment with different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, providing a platform for creativity and innovation while maintaining a connection to the unique terroir of the Mediterranean coast of France. The wines of IGP Méditerranée offer a delightful reflection of the sunny and coastal influences of the region.
