Description

Oppaco 2018

Elegant wine of a lighter, although consistent, red-ruby colour that is different from the traditional dark red wines hailing from this region which are consumed young and usually appreciated with food. Vinhão grapes are very special, particularly in their tannin concentration and colour. It is therefore essential to combine them with other varieties like, in this case, Alvarinho and Pinot Noir, to produce a more elegant and somewhat restrained unfiltered wine.

Oppaco represents true innovation. Local Vinhão grapes are very special, particularly in their high tannin concentration and colour. Therefore, it is essential to combine them with other varieties, like our beloved Alvarinho, to provide some restraint and produce more elegant wines. The Vinhão variety is one of few red varieties where the pulp of the grapes is also red, producing a must that already has colour. The grapes are therefore pressed immediately following harvest to avoid a lot of skin contact. Alvarinho and Vinhão ferment together, spending no time macerating, while Pinot Noir ferments separately and spends time macerating with its skins. After fermentation, 30% of the wine ages in young French oak barrels for 1 year.

Pet-Nat Alvarinho

Looking at the sky is the oldest tool in winemaking. Soalheiro’s Alvarinho Pet Nat is a sparkling wine inspired by the ancestral method, a wine with natural movement and elegant bubbling. The vinification process, is with little intervention, & resorts to the end of the first alcoholic fermentation in bottle, without resorting to disgorgement or sugar addition. This Pet Nat Alvarinho is a fresh and light wine, with a smooth aftertaste, due to a stop in spontaneous fermentation.

Due to its profile, this wine does not necessarily need food pairing. It can be drunk alone, as an appetizer for a conversation between friends, or in a late afternoon in a bar. It is also an excellent choice for tasting with roasts and grills.

Ruby Reserve Port

Produced from red grapes varieties of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Franca. Dark red colour, young aroma, very intense and complex, with notes of black fruits and hints of chocolate. Full bodied, marks of matured tannins with a long and sweetish end.

The Douro Valley boasts a unique terroir with steep hillsides, rugged terrain, and schist soils. The region’s elevation and exposure to the sun provide excellent conditions for grape cultivation, particularly the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), and Tinta Barroca grape varieties, among others, which are used for producing Port wine.

Decant the wine before serving at a temperature between 14ºC-16ºC to accompany chocolates, rich and strong cheeses. Conserve the bottle horizontally in the dark and with a constant and moderate temperature.

Revirado 2020

Revirado is na Alvarinho born on the slopes of the mountains surrounding Portugal’s northern most territory. It fermented and was turned around with altitude lees in spin barrels. There is still something else we could write about this wine, but the best thing is to discover it in the glass.

Revirado is a complex, engaging wine, which at first is strange and then it grows on you. In the nose, the closed aroma resembles burnt matches, showing the profile of an Alvarinho with some reduction. In the mouth, this wine has a pronounced mineral profile due to the salinity that is felt given its origin in altitude vineyards, and a singular complexity amplified by the ageing in oak barrels.
