Wine
Mosto Flor is a wine made from the first drops that flow from the Alvarinho grapes before pressing. An idea that came from the team, which then was developed in the Innovation Cellar and that resulted in 44 hand written interpretations of a single label, a tribute to the knowledge and contribution of each person who works to continue the Soalheiro dream. A label by each of of the team, a story written by everyone.
Region
The Minho wine region, also known as the Vinho Verde region, is located in the northwest of Portugal. It is one of the country’s most well-known wine regions and is primarily known for producing Vinho Verde wines. The Minho region has a maritime climate, influenced by its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The climate is characterized by mild temperatures, high humidity, and frequent rainfall. These conditions are conducive to the growth of grapes and contribute to the region’s vibrant, green landscape.
Terroir
Monção and Melgaço, the most northern region of Portugal, is protected by mountains that form a unique microclimate. This allows a perfect marriage between rainfall, temperature, and the number of hours of sunshine needed for the best maturation of Alvarinho grapes. The microclimate in Monção and Melgaço is especially important during ripening, when hot days alternate with cold nights, enabling the development of fresh and fruity aromas and an acidity that is present, but moderate – just the way we like it for this Soalheiro Alvarinho .
Winemaking
Mosto Flor, as the name suggests, is a wine made from must obtained without pressing, also known as “lágrima”. This must, the result of the normal pressure that exists between the grapes when they are introduced into the press, is separated, decanted and ferments in stainless steel tanks.
Food Suggestions
Mosto Flor is an aromatic wine, vertical and pure. In the nose it is intense and direct, without not much width of aroma, but very precise, which shows well one of the dimensions of Alvarinho when there is no contact with the skins. In the mouth it’s fresh and very sharp. Certified vegan.
