Description

Wine

“The best barrels are separated only in the best vintages and stored for 24 months in new French oak barrels. Privat is a powerful international styled wine.

Deep and dark ruby-red with a black core, ripe, dark berries, chocolate and coffee in the nose, extremely full-bodied, lots of ripe, dark fruit on the palate, ripe and strong tannins, very long lasting – endless pleasure”

Vineyards

Grapes are coming from the  vineyards Haidäcker, Bärnreiser & Schüttenberg in Carnuntum. The Haidäcker with its nutrient-rich soil, where the fresh winds from the nearby Danube ensure a lively structure and acidity. The Bärnreiser, where the grapes achieve their full maturity and density in combination with the deep soil and the warm individual location. And from the Schüttenberg with its barren gravel, which is heated by the sun in summer.

Region

Carnuntum is a wine region located in eastern Austria, near the city of Vienna. It is known for its long history of winemaking, even dating back to the time of the ancient Romans. The region takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Carnuntum, which was an important military and trading center during the Roman Empire.

Viticulture & Vinification

Only very ripe grapes from a  selective hand picking, selection are used. Great control in the vineyard with  selection of bunches and single berries in the cellar before fermentation.

Must is left for a  3 weeks maceration period after fermentation. Malolactic fermentation after pressing followed by a rest period in new barriques.  Each variety is separately aged in the new barrique barrels for 30 months.

The cuvée is assembled at the beginning of June, after careful sensory control of each individual barrel where the whole family selects the best barrels together, followed by another resting period of another 5 months in barriques before bottling.

Enjoy with veal, venison & other red meats roasted in a thick heavy sauce with spice & nuts.

 Ideal drinking temperature 18°C.
