Description
Milla Cala
Holism and the pursuit of excellence go hand in hand. The infinite quality of the wine led Viña VIK to produce a second wine as a tribute to its origin: the encounter between the old and the new world. Milla means gold in Mapuche language while Cala is the Spanish translation of the Norwegian name Vik.
The Region
The Millahue Valley is situated within the Cachapoal Valley, which itself is part of the larger Rapel Valley wine region in central Chile. It is located to the west of the Andes Mountains and benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and cool ocean breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean.
It’s characterized by diverse soils, including alluvial and colluvial soils, which contribute to the region’s unique terroir. The valley’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains also plays a role in creating different microclimates within the region.
The Winery
Viña VIK is a renowned winery located in the Millahue Valley, Chile. It is known for producing high-quality wines in a state-of-the-art facility and vineyards situated in a picturesque setting in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Viña VIK is notable for its commitment to producing premium wines and its dedication to art, architecture, and sustainability.
The Wine
With an irresistible character, expressing fruit and structure, Milla Cala is a harmonious blend with a persistent elegance which maintains a flawless equilibrium between aroma and taste. Milla Cala 2019 reflects in the pure form its terroir.
The Cabernet Sauvignon provides a firm structure, aromas of red fruits, and velvety but focused tannins. Merlot softens the wine providing a silky mouthfeel, while Cabernet Franc offers a unique elegance and minerality. The Carmenere unfurls black fruits, blackberries, and plums on the mid-palate.
Aromas of fresh spices together with a balanced acidity create a tense wine with an unforgettable and long finish. The Syrah offers friendly blue floral notes of lavender and violet, complemented by notes of nuts and a touch of mocha from French oak.
Ideal serving temperature 16ºC.
