Description

Le Meridional 2022

This wine was made by the Domaine back in 2014 even before it was inaugurated. A blend of  60% Syrah, 30% Grenache & 10% Carignan with a stainless steel fermentation & 100% of the blend aged in oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. Deep and intense dark color, lots of black fruit aromas, with smoke and toasted nuances. Fresh on the palate with more spice & red fruits with fine tannins and a robust structure. Ideal marriage with red meats such as spicy lamb dishes of lamb & duck.

14 Quelles 2018

Complex and layered it lures you in with lush red and black fruit aromas, spice, leather, a whiff of smoke and floral top notes of violet, rose and geranium. Ageing in new French barriques for 12 months gives the palate a structured framework, but there’s really great balance here, with a velvety black fruit attack followed by a seam of freshness with red currants and red cherries, plus spicy herbal notes running onto the long finish.

A wine to linger over or wait for. Fermented for 10 days in temperature controlled stainless steel, punching down and pumping over each day. Once fully fermented, the wine is left to macerate for a further 10 days before being transferred into new French oak barrels to mature for 12 months.

Cuvée Arte Blanc 2022

Since its creation in 2015, Domaine des Peyre has always associated ART with wine, dotting the vineyards with works of art by contemporary artists. Its owners, Georges Antoun & Patricia Alexandre have for several years had strong ties with artist Toma-l, they invited him to create a live ephemeral work at the domain in 2019. It did not take more than that for them to give him full permission to create the label of the Arte cuvée.

Thomas Labarthe, who has lived for a long time between Nantes & Marseille, now exhibits in Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Lille, New York, Montreal, Brussels & Salzburg. The artist paints without any idea before starting his work. He calls it “free & instinctive expression”. He imagine 6 different labels for this exceptional cuvée, making the bottles of the ARTE wine works of art in their own right.

First vintage of the Arte Blanc. A blend of  50% Grenache Blanc & 50% Vermentino aged in oak barrels for 9 months. A very fine nose, full of delicacy & elegance. The very light oak gives tasty notes of brioche while keeping lots of freshness on the finish. Pairs well with cooked white fish, shellfish & raw goat’s cheese.

Puritaine 2018 – Syrah

The English translation of this label doesn’t do the French poetry justice so I’ve decided to leave it as it is………

This smells like smoked topside with a wild-cherry glaze. On the palate, there is an incredibly fragrant lift of dried basil and pink peppercorns over a concentrated (but not heavy or over-extracted) core of black cherries, wild blackberries and elderberries.

It has dark bitterness and char, but so tightly woven into the fruit that, like an artist daubs shadow into the light to make a painting come to three dimensional life, these elements make this wine step off the page. This could be a perfect pairing with smoked duck and a cherry-tarragon and Szechuan-pepper sauce.

Yield of just 30 hectoliters per hectare with non sulfite fermentation with indigenous yeasts and bio-protection (by using non saccharomyces yeasts to avoid brettanomyces.) Post fermentation maceration for 10 days at 38 degrees Celsius, malolactic fermentation, then 50% aging in 350 l terra cotta jars and 50% in 2000 hl barrel.
