Description

Spätburgunder Rosé 2021

Dry and medium bodied Rosé with underlying sweetness, firm minerality and crisp acidity. Strikingly evident that it’s a Spätburgunder from Baden but also surprising on the way that it gives you more than you’d expect. Slight spritz with raspberry, grapefruit and plums but also some spiciness which is rarely present in a Rosè wine of this price range. Palate is rich with wild strawberry flavours, dry salty minerals and bitter stems.

Alvarinho “Clássico” 2022

Yellow citrine color, with the classic Alvarinho aromas of intense and tropical fruit with a mineral profile. Grapes are harvested in small capacity boxes and carried to the cellar in a short space of time. After pressing, the must is decanted for 48 hours, followed by controlled temperature fermentation using pre-selected yeasts. The objective is to obtain an Alvarinho that concentrates the quality of the grapes while allowing for a good evolution in bottle. Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood, fish and light poultry dishes.

Riesling 2021

The fact that the vines in Rheinhessen sprouted later than usual in 2021 can be seen as a stroke of luck, as it meant that they were spared the night frosts in April. Also, partly due to the fungal pressure caused by the wetness, the winegrowing year differed from the three hot and dry previous years. The late start of the harvest in mid-September compared to previous years was a
fortunate coincidence, as sunny days in September contributed decisively to the harvesting of a very appealing vintage. Ripening in the cool produces fruity wines that offer a wide range of aromas even with moderate alcohol content. In addition, there is a fresh acidity – one of the main characteristics of German white wines. Grapes were hand picked, with maceration for up to 18 hours and spontaneous fermentation & maturation in stainless steel. This is a light wine, little effervescent, a fervent lemon crisp, white peaches and stone fruit aromas with high refreshing acidity. Pale yellow colour with green reflexes, a nose full of ripe fruit aromas of citrus, apricot & light spice notes with a juicy palate. Certified Vegan and Organic.

Demuerte Classic 2020

Half Monastrell, half Syrah in full colour. This is the origin of the Demuerte collection, a striking classic red for unconventional times. One half Monastrell from more than 15 year old low yield vines, its other half is Syrah with both grown at an altitude on 700 meters. Coming from Mediterranean-continentalized climate with its rigorous dry land of very cold winters, and extremely hot summers. Planted on limestone rock soil, with the presence of carbonates and a sandy surface with clay formations which are poor in organic matter but quite healthy and permeable. Manual harvest, in 20 kg boxes, intended to take care of the integrity of each grape, preventing it from being damaged. Only the best bunches are selected. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at 24 degrees Celsius and macerated for 21 days before its malolactic conversion to extract its ripe tannins. Aging is done in French Allier oak barrels for a minimum period of 9 months. Appearance is deep purplish red colour. Nose is filled with fine well defined black and red fruit with a complex background of oak, pastries, spices, vanilla notes and to such an extent balsamic. Palate is smooth & unctuous. Serve at 16-18ºC. Certified Vegan.

Pinot & Syrah 2019

The Pinot & Syrah brings together two supposedly separate wine worlds. The elegance of Pinot Noir meets the spice of Syrah. In retrospect, it represents a logical consequence of the company’s commitment to both grape varieties. This unusual blend gives the sweet fruit of the Pinot Noir a boost with peppery, spicy Syrah notes. The Syrah grape in cool climates has many of the characteristics of the thin-skinned, fussy Pinot Noir and together they combine a lavishly spicy, basket of sweet dark fruits, with blueberries, blackberries, cherries, and hints of dried fruit with a finely woven woody aroma. Delicate and fine on the palate, this blend clearly shows its Pinot Noir origins.

Corral de los Altos 2019

Corral de los Altos was the second wine to be launched in the series of terroir-focused wines. This wine comes from the northern parcel, with 43-year-old vines on rocky soil, located on the top of a high plateau where the northerly “cierzo” wind places a key role. Very different to the parcel located to its south, on clay-based soil, and separated from the first by native flora that Viña Zorzal are actively recuperating. Alcoholic fermentation in 3,000-litre stainless steel tanks, using just indigenous yeast, malolactic fermentation and 9 months ageing in 500-litre 2 years used French barrels.
