Garnacha Blanca 2021

The Garnacha vineyards have unique quality factors: They are in the hills, border between Ebro valley and Iberian mountains; bush vines in higher altitude, continental climate and stony soil. This was a complex vintage, winter was mild but spring was very rainy and cold. Flowering and veraison were 20 days later than previous vintage, although due to the high temperatures in September, the delay was compensated in 2 weeks.

Rain was the most prominent element of the vintage after 2 years of water deficit but there was an extra effort in the vineyard management. At the end we can say It was a historically fresh and good vintage. Grapes were harvested in the coolest hours of the evening, stripped from the stalks, and then cold-macerated, extracting the free-run juice after 12 hours of skin contact. The resulting grape must was then fermented using just indigenous yeasts. Once fermentation concluded, the wine was kept with its lees in 1200-litre Flextank and in 500-litre barrels for 6 months. Medium intensity aromas of citrus fruit and stone fruit such us peach and apricot with hints of mineral notes.

ALLO 2023

Yellow colour, citrus flavour with an elegant and mineral profile. The Alvarinho (from Melgaço) full of tropical fruit and structure, contrasts with the Loureiro (from the Lima valley), floral and full of elegance. ALLO is a vibrant and precise white wine with a unique balance due to the moderately low (11.5% abv) alcohol content. The Alvarinho grape gives the wine structure while the Loureiro grape gives it the elegant and mineral aromatic distinction. Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood, fish or poultry dishes.

Christina Grüner Veltliner 2023

“Marked aroma of the variety with no shortage of fruit such as green apples & some peppery spice on the palate with abundance of freshness & harmony.”

Grüner Veltliner is grown in one of the cooler places in this region, which benefit from the chilled winds of the nearby river Danube, especially during hot summers. This factor allows for the intensive aromatic & almost fizzy acidity in the grapes to be preserved. Specifically the red gravel soil (iron) brings minerality & the typical “pepper” to this Grüner Veltliner. 

Manual harvest with only selected grapes between the 23rd & the 25th September, 2022. Whole cluster pressing before a slow fermentation with only natural yeasts which takes place in stainless steel tanks. Single racking to preserve the lees in the wine. Bottled unfined & unfiltered with a small addition of sulfur.

A beautiful image of its variety, this Grüner mingles apple, bright acidity and peppery undertones in just the right proportions. Pairs well with fried chicken and light fish and seafood, or go for Wiener Schnitzel or pork knuckle if  a full-on Austrian experience is required. Ideal drinking temperature 8 °C. Turn bottle gently before opening.

Everybody’s White 2023

Fritz Waßmer’s new wine simply named “Everybody’s White”. Coming from a blend of Muller Thurgau, Pinot Blanc & Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the sun-drenched vineyards in Baden, Germany. Sprightly orange blossom, ripe apricot and lime zest endorse an abundant freshness that steers the ship. Very crisp and aromatic with a zing of mint on the finish. Invigorating and racy, the first sip of this wine makes you want more. A versatile food companion, but also a real treat on its own. Exciting with striking acidity and powerful body makes this wine a hearty thirst quencher.

Cassandre 2023 – Vermentino

“Myth or reality? Due to its warming, mother nature tends to deprive us of balanced wines. So in response, we planted this Vermentino, which brings the tension we look for.  And also, we have to say it, because it’s so good!
A whistle-blower”

100% Vermentino and declassified as Vin de France this is part of the limited bottled ” Les Dissidents” range. Following a number of experiments, a whole instinctive range comprised of micro-cuvees and varietal wines, prohibited by the appellation, in truly exclusive, libertarian style. What the winemaker believe to be the best varieties of the soil, this unclassified range of French wine defies the institutions, their regulations and conventional wine.

Yield of 60 hectoliters per hectare with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 18°C without malolactic fermentation and ageing for 3 months on fine lees.  A very pleasant Vermentino which brings its freshness, white peach, linden blossoms & tangerine. The attack is tense but with a nice sweetness in the middle of the mouth with a long finish. Serve at 8°C – 11°C.

Mil Historias – Blanco 2023

A blend of 5 grapes: Garnacha Blanca, a rustic variety that has adapted very well to warm areas. It’s very resistant to drought, with high acidity. Garnacha Gris is a variety that adapts perfectly to this land, sun & climate, with a pink color & thick skin.

Chardonnay, is quite resistant & adaptable to diverse soils, very grateful & it adapts to different climates and its expression will depend on the type of terroir. Viognier adapts very well to hot climates, & it’s very aromatic. Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, is another variety of which Altolandon have old vines of  in Landete, also very aromatic and with very small berries.

The name for this wine range came with a play of words really. In Spain when you don’t see a friend for a long time they always say, “I have thousand things to tell you”. It’s a phrase that is used a lot so no better way to share these thousand things rather than over a bottle from this wine! Also the altitude of the vineyard is incidentally just over one thousand meters above sea level!
