The single vineyard wines are selected and carefully processed from only the oldest and best vineyards. The autonomy of traditional grape varieties, combined with the soil and the layers, creates wines that reflect their expression and maturity including all the peculiarities of their origin. These are precise and exciting wines. This vineyard in Bectheim is one of the warmest sites in a south facing location with loess-loam & limestone soils. Very warm temperatures in winter & spring, flowering was 3-4 weeks ahead of the norm, a lot of rainfalls in July and August, but sunny weather in September resulted in a hectic harvest time to pick the healthy grapes as fast as possible. Selectively hand-picked grapes with skin contact up to 48 hours and spontaneous fermentation in 100% wooden barrels. Wine is left on its lees. Aromas of papaya, mango and passion fruit are accompanied by a slightly salty and mineral spiciness.Utterly precise with an ingenious minerality and an aromatic fully ripe peach nose.
