Red Wine

Red wine is almost always made from dark-colored grape varieties. It derives its color from the skin of the grapes, which is left in contact with the juice during the fermentation process. Red wines can vary widely in flavor, aroma, body, and style depending on the grape variety, winemaking techniques, and aging process.

Red wine can be made from various grape varieties, each contributing its own distinct characteristics. I stock red wines made from popular red grape varieties but also some which are more off the beaten path. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah (Shiraz), Cabernet Franc, Graciano, Grenache, Monastrell (Mourvèdre), Nerello Mascelese, Nerello Cappuccio, Nocera, Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot, Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Roesler, Carménère, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Vinhao, Carignan & possibly the rarest of them all Garnacha Gris are all featured in these red wine bottles. Different grape varieties result in wines with different flavor profiles, tannin levels, and aging potential.
