Description

La Piu Belle Rosé 2022

Harvested in early March, the fruit is lush and bright with focused acidity. To preserve aromatics the wine is 100% whole cluster pressed then undergoes a long, cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Energetic and elegant, La Piu Belle 2020 is fruit-forward with a dry finish. Cabernet Sauvignon gives the nose ripe red berries and round tannins on the mid-palate. Cabernet Franc adds accents of graphite and floral scents of lavender and violet. Blended they present notes of summer stone fruit, apricots, and passion fruit with a surprising hint of citrus on the finish.

Pairs exceptionally well with smoked salmon on toast with ricotta and extra virgin olive oil. Fresh pappardelle with tomato sauce, grated parmesan and basil leaves. Lobster with drawn butter and steamed fresh vegetables. Paella. Serving temperature: 10ºC – 12ºC.

Patience 2019 – Cabernet Franc

“I have none, & it’s a shame that this bottle needs it.
An impatient winemaker”

100% Cabernet Franc and declassified as Vin de France, this is part of the limited and bottle numbered ” Les Dissidents” range. Following a number of experiments, a whole instinctive range comprised of micro-cuvees and varietal wines, prohibited by the appellation, in truly exclusive, libertarian style with a choice of what the winemaker believe to be the best varieties of the soil, this unclassified range of French wine defies the institutions, their regulations and conventional wine.

Yield of just 30 hectoliters per hectare with non sulfite fermentation with indigenous yeasts and bio-protection (by using non saccharomyces yeasts to avoid brettanomyces.) Post fermentation maceration for 10 days at 38 degrees Celsius, malolactic fermentation and aging in 2000 litre barrel. Focused and elegant wine which is precise with a hint of mint, vegetal but ripe, blackcurrant, bourbon, concentrated, juicy and fresh, with a nice balance with high aging potential. This wine needs minimum 3 years after the year of harvest to be ready………Patience

Westhofen Chardonnay 2019

Compared to the optimal vintage 2018 with its unbelievably high yields, 2019 is clearly below average in this respect. Nationwide, this meant a 13% lower yield. 2019 made it difficult for the winegrowers in many places with frost on the one hand and sunburn, great heat and drought on the other. Despite the difficult conditions, 2019 produced incredibly good wines.

Grapes were hand picked, with maceration for up to 24 hours and spontaneous fermentation. 60% aged in 500 litres tonneaux barrels with 40% in stainless steel and left for an 18 months on the lees. This is a fresh wine, with a pale golden yellow colour, a nutty character combined with some smoke and clear citrus aromas. On the palate it’s elegant, mineral and with a creamy finish.

Wines will be packed in a branded Holy Wine Box (ideal for gifts.)
